Do you charge for a site measurement?

No. We come to the site and take the dimensions free of charge, then issue a dimensioned drawing and one fixed price before anything is fabricated.

How long does a job take?

Three to nine weeks is typical, measured from approval of the drawing to installation.

What areas do you serve?

Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, from our shop at 51 Guided Court in Etobicoke.

Is the work fabricated in house?

Yes. Cutting, forging, welding and finishing all happen in our own Etobicoke shop. Nothing is bought in as a kit.

Do you take on commercial and multi-residential projects, or only private homes?

Both. Alongside private homes, we fabricate and install for commercial, institutional and multi-residential clients, including property managers, general contractors and public-sector agencies across the GTA.

How much does a custom railing, gate or staircase cost?

It depends on material, length, design complexity and site conditions, so we don't quote by phone or give verbal estimates. A free, no-obligation site visit lets us take accurate dimensions and issue one fixed price before anything is fabricated.

What's the difference between powder coating and hot-dip galvanizing?

Powder coating applies a durable, coloured finish that resists rust and UV fading. Hot-dip galvanizing dips steel in molten zinc for heavy, long-term corrosion protection, and is often used as a base coat beneath powder coating on exterior work. We offer both and recommend the right combination for your site.

Do you require full payment upfront?

No. Jobs are billed in milestones — a deposit to begin fabrication, a progress payment, and a final payment on completion and installation — rather than full payment upfront or payment only at the very end.

Residential and commercial. Fabricated in our own shop, not bought in as a kit.

Railings: Interior, exterior, porch, step and balcony railings, welded and finished to code.
Fences: Perimeter and side-yard fencing, picket or panel, chain link, wood or core-drilled steel.
Gates: Pedestrian gates and double-swing driveway gates, with hardware and automation prep.
Staircases: Straight, curved and spiral stairs, steel stringers, plate or open treads, shop-fitted before delivery.
Deck guards: Guards for decks and terraces built to the required height and spacing.
Window grilles: Fixed and hinged grilles, plain bar or forged, sized to each opening.
Glass railing systems: Tempered glass in steel channel or point-fixed, with or without a top rail.
Decorative ironwork: Hand-forged scrollwork, baskets, twists and one-off pieces drawn for the job.
Repairs: Rewelding, post replacement, straightening and refinishing of existing ironwork.
Accessibility ramps: Galvanized ramp and landing guards for multi-residential and institutional properties.

The shop

Asian Iron Works is family-run. It was started by a Filipino immigrant who came to Canada by way of Saudi Arabia, where he worked in construction and learned metal fabrication. He began taking on railing and fabrication work here on his own, and formally established the business in 2001.

The trade has had its ups and downs since then. What carried the shop through is the work itself and the partners who kept calling back: contractors, builders and designers with jobs all over Toronto, from housing portfolios to privately designed luxury homes.

Cutting, forging, welding and finishing all happen in house, so the look of your vision, the railing of your dreams, is the thing that arrives on site.
